On the morning of May 26th, National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism Assistant Professor and head chef at The F Courage Kitchen (勇氣厨房) Xander Lee put on a dinner event in Boston with the help of several chefs from the China Pearl restaurant. The dinner consisted of twelve tables all filled to the brim with delicious Taiwanese specialties.
In attendance were TECO Boston’s Director-General Scott Lai and his wife, Deputy Director-General Bruce Chen, Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Commissioner Ricky Moy, former OCAC Commissioner Serena Chiang, Massachusetts Congressman Tackey Chan, Massachusetts Assistant Secretary of Business Development Nam Phan, and Chairman of the Massacuhsetts Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development Cory Atkins, among other important politicians and Chinese community leaders.
Every year the OCAC holds a “Taste of Taiwan” culinary lecture tour series to promote Taiwanese cuisine, augment the international image of Taiwanese food brands, and assist overseas Chinese business owners in the restaurant and hospitality industries. On May 26, the China Pearl restaurant prepared ten delicious dishes for the enjoyment of the dinner guests. The attendees got to experience a diverse array of scrumptious culinary delicacies, artfully assembled by master chefs. The attendees jumped at the chance to take pictures with the hosts, and enthusiastically requested them to return next year.
