The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Denver attended the annual 2016 Poudre River Festival at the Legacy Park of Fort Collins on June 4. The office set up a booth to showcase the achievements of Taiwan’s environmental protection.
Director General Jerry Chang said Taiwan had experienced a severe flooding caused by Typhoon Morakot on August 8, 2009, so the office made a poster with many pictures of the disaster and reconstruction work to remind the community that Taiwan is also affected by global climate change and is willing to stand up and protect our natural environment and water resources.
The office also arranged traditional ring toss game and provided calligraphy service at the booth, which attracted lots of people to have fun.
The Poudre River Festival was first held in May 2014 in the wake of the devastating flood of Colorado in 2013. A group of local nonprofits decided to pool their resources and create a festival focused on the Cache la Poudre River, where people could learn about the river and raise the awareness to treasure our environment as well.
