The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York would like to inform you that the Taiwan Fellowship 2018 will begin accepting applications online from May 1 to June 30, 2017. Fellowship recipients will be awarded a monthly stipend of US$1,700-2,000 during the research period in Taiwan and a complimentary round-trip economy-class airline ticket.
Introduction
The Taiwan Fellowship was established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to encourage experts and scholars interested in topics related to Taiwan, cross-Taiwan Strait relations, mainland China, the Asia Pacific and other facets of Sinology to conduct advanced studies at universities or research institutions in Taiwan and to promote academic exchange and mutual understanding.
Financial assistance
(1) Monthly grants are paid at the beginning of every month.
- Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT$60,000.
- Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates: NT$50,000.
(2) One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (The subsidy will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant regulations).
(3) The fellowship terms range from 3 to 12 months.
(4) Accident insurance coverage of NT$1 million.
Eligibility
Recipients shall be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or research fellows at an equivalent level foreign academic institution.
