Draftees born in or after the year of 1994 who are about to start their first year of college or the third year of a five­year vocational school abroad, or in Hong Kong, Macau or mainland China and are willing to apply for the two­stage summer military training in the year of 2017 and the year of 2018 shall read the following carefully:

1. According to article 26 of the Conscription Regulations, draftees shall continuously receive the two stages of regular military training (the first stage is the basic training and the second stage is the specialty training: each of the stages lasts 8 weeks for a total of 4 months). Students who study in college or vocational school may, voluntarily based on their own will, apply to receive the two­stage military training during their first and second summer (or 3rd and 4th summer in the case of a five­year vocational school) at the town (district/city/township) office of their registered residence before November 15 of their first year in college (or their third year in the case of a five­year vocational school).
2. Anyone who is eligible and willing to apply for the two­stage military training and is available during projected training dates after careful consideration may prepare the following documents to apply to the conscription units in the town (district/city/township) office of his registered residence after their registration in the school for their first year (or 3rd year in the case of a five­year vocational school) and before November 15, 2016 : a copy of both sides of student ID or proof of enrollment (in the case of studying abroad or in Hong Kong, Macao or in mainland China, the copy needs to be officially verified), and the stamps of the draftee and his parents (legal representative).
3. Draftees who apply for the two­stage military training will receive military registration investigation and subsequently conscription examination, lot drawing and recruitment following arrangements made by the conscription units.
4. Those who have applied for the two­stage regular service military training may, with actual cause and before receiving the conscription order, make an official declaration to give up the application for the two­stage military training. Once the reason for military service deferment vanishes they shall receive the 4­month regular service military training.
5. Those who applied for the two-stage military training and received the conscription order may apply for deferment of conscription at the local town (city/district/township) office of their registered residence only if they meet the conditions listed in the“Draftees Draft Deferment Cases Chart(應徵役男延期徵集入營事故表)” (the list can be found at the website of the National Conscription Agency's Chinese website under "Services Information (業務資訊)" - "Conscription Law Search (役政法規查詢)" -"Draftees Draft Deferment Cases Chart(應徵役男延期徵集入營事故表)"). If a draftee is not approved for the deferment, he shall still enter the military training at the time and place specified on the conscription order. If a draftee does not have a proper reason and does not enter the camp at the specified time and place, he will be prosecuted by law­enforcement agencies under the Punishment Act for Violation to Military Service System.
