Director General Joseph Ma, on behalf of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), was invited to attend the 148th Golden Spike Ceremony on May 10, 2017. The Golden Spike National Historic Site Administration in Utah organizes the annual event in memory of the men who offered their lives in building the railroads across the country. On May 10, 1869 the Union and Central Pacific Railroads joined their rails at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory and forged the destiny of a nation. Golden Spike National Historic Site shares the stories of the people and settings that define the completion of the first Transcontinental Railroad across the United States.
