Vietnam Airlines & Bangkok Airways agree to codeshare deal

Deal makes it easier for passengers of both carriers to travel to and from Vietnam and Thailand.
Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and Bangkok Airways from Thailand have agreed to conduct codeshare flights between Vietnam and Thailand, contributing to the expansion of air services to popular tourist destinations in the two countries.
Passengers can buy VNA tickets to fly from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok and connect to domestic destinations operated by Bangkok Airways, such as Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, and Chiang Rai.
The arrangement opens up diverse route options between Vietnam and Thailand, including Bangkok - Da Nang operated by Bangkok Airways once a day and Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City - Bangkok operated by VNA six times a day.
Mr. Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of VNA, said that the codeshare arrangement between VNA and Bangkok Airways will provide passengers with more choice when visiting destinations in the two countries. “We are delighted to cooperate with Bangkok Airways,” he added. “The combination of two four-star carriers will also ensure quality of service for passengers, affirming our continuous efforts to expand our network and diversify our products.”
Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, Chairman of Bangkok Airways, said the carrier is constantly striving to improve its products and services to bring maximum satisfaction to passengers. “This cooperation agreement with VNA will create more favorable conditions for passengers of Bangkok Airways to reach destinations in Vietnam,” he said. “Similarly, passengers of Vietnam Airlines will also find it easier to travel to popular destinations in Thailand through our flight network.”
Vietnam Airlines, a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, operates 90 routes to 20 domestic and 29 international destinations with an average of 400 flights a day.
It owns a modern fleet, with Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Airbus A350-900 XWBs, Airbus A330s, and Airbus A321s.
Bangkok Airways now flies to more than 20 destinations in Thailand and Asia, including Phuket, the Maldives, Da Nang, Phu Quoc Island, Siem Reap, and Luang Prabang.
It owns 38 aircraft, including six ATR72-500s, nine ATR72-600s, 14 A319s, and nine A320s.
