The Pretoria Chinese School provided the backdrop to the Taiwan Carnival, a celebration of all things Taiwanese, organised by the Taiwanese Association of Southern Africa (T.A.S.A.) on the 30th of April.
Carnival goers were treated to a mouth-watering array of traditional Taiwanese street food, a stimulating cultural stand, Aboriginal Taiwanese dancing, dynamic drum performers and wonderful singers.
For the first time this year, two very prominent and celebrated chefs from Taiwan gave a live cooking demonstration and thrilled spectators by handing out numerous delicious free dishes.
The atmosphere was joyous, lively and fun, with a play ground for the children and heaps of entertainment for the whole family. The celebration of Taiwanese culture was wrapped up with a lucky draw which saw many people win many amazing prizes, such as TV sets, tablets, bicycles, jewelry and even two round trip airline tickets to Taiwan!
Mr. L.C. Chen, spokesperson for T.A.S.A. said, “This year’s fair is much bigger than last year, we have 40 stalls and about 2500 people attending the Carnival.”
