According to Bureau of Foreign Trade, in March 2017, Taiwan's trade totaled US$47.49 billion, up 16.1% year-on-year, of which exports amounted to US$25.71 billion, up 13.2% and imports amounted to US$21.78 billion, up 19.8%.
While Taiwan's exports benefited from the global economic rebound, attention must also be given to the trends of global economic and trade policies (e.g., the new Trump administration, Brexit, etc.), as well as various national elections throughout the world and geopolitical uncertainties.
Export orders totaled US$41.12 billion dollars, compared with the same month in 2016, up 12.3% year-on-year, and benefiting from information communication products, such as laptops, servers, network communication products and increased orders of OEM.
Economic Regulations & Policies
The import of endangered species of wild fauna, flora, and products thereof, shall comply with the CITES certificate or other permits issued by the exporting country in accordance with the Regulations on Import and Export of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna, Flora and Related Products (announced on 16.08.2010).
Importers shall submit the CITES certificate or other permits issued by the exporting country, if the certificate or permit contains the fields for the actual quantity of exportation, and signature and stamp, then the exporting country shall list the quantity and display the stamp.
When performing verification, the importing customs shall mark down the import declaration number and the item number or those of the relevant documents, and proceed to submit the original copies of the CITES certificate or other permits to the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
