A distinguished crowd of around 100 dignitaries, members of MAAC, family members, friends and colleagues gathered at the Residence of the Taipei Liaison Office to bid Colonel Lawrence Hsu farewell after his three year tour of duty in South Africa recently came to an end.
Acting Representative Shih thanked Colonel Hsu for his impeccable work over the past three years and wished him and his family well on their return to Taiwan. He also said that Colonel Hsu had not only been a colleague, but had become a good friend.
Colonel Hsu thanked everyone for their attendance, saying that their presence demonstrated how many friends he had made in South Africa. He said it was a bittersweet moment, but that he hoped to keep up all the friendships he had made and invited everyone to visit his home country, Taiwan. He also thanked his family for their unwavering support and said that his wife, Kiki, and daughter, Renee, were his motivation to succeed in every aspect of his life.
Acting Representative Shih went on to introduce Colonel Jeff Lin as Colonel Hsu's successor. Colonel Lin said that his sincere hope was to continue with the sterling job his predecessor had done and to maintain the good relations Colonel Hsu had built-up.
The Taipei Liaison Office wishes Colonel Hsu and his family all the best for the future.
