The European Parliament recently passed two Taiwan-friendly resolutions: the resolution assessing the state of play on the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the annual resolution on the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
The resolutions emphasize the importance of the #EU’s relations with East Asia and Southeast Asia and call for a peaceful solution to differences in the East and South China Sea and across the Taiwan Strait. The resolutions also address the issue of disinformation and cyber-attacks, stating that foreign authoritarian regimes are targeting other Asian countries' elections and jeopardizing their democratic operations and reiterated the EP’s support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations.
The European Parliament-Taiwan Friendship Group took the opportunity to congratulate us on a successful democratic election and stated that they look forward to further cooperation with Taiwan in preventing foreign meddling in democratic institutions, after the passing of the Anti-Infiltration Act.
