Ambassador Harry Tseng took part in a webinar yesterday evening, hosted by European People's Party MEPs Ivan ŠTEFANEC and Michaela Šojdrová. Ambassador Tseng featured alongside Hosuk Lee-Makiyama, Director of European Centre for International Political Economy(ECIPE) - as keynote speakers in the webinar titled: Taiwan's fight against COVID-19: implications for EU-Taiwan relations
The webinar covered the full range of Taiwan's response to the COVID-19 pandemic as the Ambassador outlined many steps taken by the government, such as the establishment of a national face mask production team, the use of tech and big data, and the widespread implementation of public-private partnerships. He also emphasised the government’s commitment to transparency in all aspects of their response and the extent to which this has won the public’s trust.
In response, the European Parliamentarians reiterated their continued support for greater Taiwanese participation in the World Health Organization (WHO) and their desire for a strengthening of EU-Taiwan relations in the future.
