On Thursday November 5, 106 cross-party Members of the European Parliament joined forces with more than 500 MPs from 25 European countries to send a letter to Director-General Tedros of the World Health Organization (WHO) calling for Taiwan’s participation as an observer in the upcoming World Health Assembly (WHA) scheduled for 9-14 November.
This initiative was supported by cross-party MEPs from the EPP, the S&D Group, Renew Europe, the Greens/EFA, the ECR and a number of non-attached Members. The massive backing demonstrated the European Parliament’s unwavering support for Taiwan’s practical participation in the WHO.
The Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium appreciates immensely the support from the MEPs and calls on the WHO to invite Taiwan to participate in the upcoming WHA as an observer.
