“From Taiwan, With Love” —174 wheelchairs donated to Brunei public hospital system and charity organizations

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam has partnered with Taiwan Business Association in Brunei Darussalam and Taiwan graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam, to launch a charity campaign by donating 174 Taiwan-made wheelchairs to Brunei public hospital system and local charity organizations in the coming weeks. The first slot of 40 wheelchairs for the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital (RIPAS) were presented to Hj.Abd.khalid As'ari Bin Hj Azahari, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Special Grade of the Ministry of Health jointly by Representative Andrew H.C. Lee, Chairman Richard Chuang and Chairman Albert Chin of the Associations at the MOH on 12 May, 2020.

Inspired by the commonly
shared value and faith, and cultural tradition of generosity and hospitality between Taiwan and Brunei, together with the Associations we are thrilled to be at the forefront of charity works and facilitating benevolent actions to fund the wheelchairs. And it is especially timely and meaningful to have this medical equipments available within the period of Ramandahn. The wheelchairs will assist those undergoing therapy, testing and treatments, and who have limited mobility at local public hospitals and private charity organizations.
Out of 174, Managing Director Richard Chuang on behalf of Tutong-based Golden Corporation provides an additional funding for 30 wheelchairs. This concerted efforts fully demonstrates the friendship of the people from Taiwan as well as the corporate social responsibility practiced by entrepreneurs affiliated with the Associations.

Taiwan has a long history of humanitarianism and Taiwan is well-positioned to repay its debt to the international community by sharing experiences and resources with friendly countries. Given the spread of COVID-19, and to join the Brunei government-led combat against the pandemic, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office has also donated dozens of inductive hand disinfectors and medical materials to Chinese schools in Brunei. These donations are indeed a testament to the spirit and value of "Taiwan can help, Taiwan is helping", and will be serving as a catalyst to further enhance existing bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Brunei.
