“From Taiwan, With Love” —4 wheelchairs donated to KACA

Following the previous donations of 140 wheelchairs for the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital (RIPAS), PMMPMHAMB Hospital, Tutong, SSB Hospital, Kuala Belait, PIHM Hospital, Temburong in May and June, 2020,in collaboration with Taiwan Business Association in and Taiwan graduates Association in Brunei Darussalam, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam presented 4 Taiwan-made high quality wheelchairs to Persatuan Kanak-kanak Cacat Brunei(KACA) on 26 November, 2020. These wheelchairs were handed over to Mr. Alim Othman, Vice President of KACA, jointly by Representative Andrew H.C. Lee and Vice Chairman Edward Ko of Taiwan Business Association at KACA.
Inspired by the commonly shared value and faith, and cultural tradition of generosity and sharing between Taiwan and Brunei, together with the Associations we are thrilled to be at the forefront of charity works and facilitating benevolent actions to fund the wheelchairs. Funded by the Taiwan government and the two Associations, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office collected 174 wheelchairs in May. In the past few months, 145 wheelchair were given to four public hospitals and several Chinese schools as part of charity campaigns to benefit the local community. To make good use of the care and love of the people of Taiwan and the members of the two Associations, the wheelchairs are being arranged to give away to more of non-governmental charity institutions and organizations for the weeks to come, with KACA kicking off the second round of charity campaign. This concerted effort fully demonstrates the friendship of the people from Taiwan towards Brunei as well as the corporate social responsibility practiced by entrepreneurs affiliated with the Associations.
KACA was founded on 27 October, 1986. Its purpose is to improve the welfare of children with disabilities in Brunei who have not participated in any formal education, and to provide special guidance and training so that these children can live independently and continue to receive education in the public Primary schools. KACA currently has 3 branches in Maura, Tutong and Kuala Belait, accommodating a total of 489 disabled children.
