The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is pleased to announce that 6 Belizean students from ITVET (Institute for Technical and Vocational Education and Training) are invited by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to participate in the 2018 Vocational Training Project in Hospitality Services held from November 12, 2018 to January 22, 2019 in Taiwan.
The realization of this training project is attributed to remarks in an address made by President Tsai Ing-Wen before the National Assembly during her August visit to Belize. President Tsai emphasized the importance of education and technical and vocational training, and that strengthening students’ skills and knowledge is something the whole world should be doing.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of ROC (Taiwan), the TaiwanICDF partners with the Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch of Workforce Development Agency (TCNR) and implements the vocational training project. A total of 20 participants from Belize and the other Caribbean allies of Taiwan will receive approximately 397 hours of training.
Upon completion of the training and taking Taiwan’s National Technicians’ Skills Examinations as a reference to evaluate participants’ professional abilities, their skills and knowledge are expected to:
•Approximately equal to the minimum standards of passing the skills certification of Class C certified technician related to hospitality management.
•Moreover, participants will be able to promote industrial skills and knowledge at a local level, and increase industrial competencies.
A strong, skilled labor force is the key to a nation’s social and economic development. The Embassy wishes the 6 Belizean students’ trip to Taiwan will be fruitful and looks forward to continuously assisting Belize to further develop human resources and strengthen vocational training systems.
