Taiwan becomes member of International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use

Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) gained membership in the International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) during the organization’s Assembly in Kobe, Japan, June 7. Taiwan will continue to make concrete contributions to the ICH by working with other members to promote the harmonization of laws concerning pharmaceuticals. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) thanks like-minded nations such as the United States for having rendered related assistance.
TFDA has participated in and made contributions to the ICH as an Observer since February 3, 2016, following the Council’s reorganization. TFDA has now been granted membership shows that Taiwan’s long-term efforts to promote harmonization of domestic laws concerning pharmaceuticals have borne fruit and won the affirmation and support of ICH members.
Taiwan will continue to strengthen interactions, exchanges, and cooperation with the ICH in a pragmatic, professional, and constructive manner. Moreover, Taiwan will work to help all countries improve their pharmaceutical laws and move toward continued harmonization of its own laws to ensure the quality and safety of pharmaceutical products for the 23 million people of Taiwan.
