With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic this year, countless people across Ireland and around the world have been denied the opportunity to celebrate important occasions in the warmth and friendship of each other’s company.
In light of this and the restrictions imposed upon us, the Taipei Representative in Ireland wishes to virtually celebrate the National Day of Republic of China (Taiwan) this year. This will ensure that citizens of both Ireland and Taiwan can join together in safely observing and commemorating the 109th National Day in lieu of a physical gathering. The celebration will feature video recordings from friends of our office, as well as recitations of Taiwanese poems by Irish poets, with the assistance of the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI).
It is crucial, now more than ever, to appreciate the interwoven fabric of friendship and cooperation that Ireland and Taiwan have fashioned and will continue to build upon in to the future, even when we cannot gather together to recognise these milestones.
We hope that you enjoy the virtual event, and we wish you and your loved ones a safe and prosperous coming year.
