Taiwan is to have its largest industrial expo in India’s “Silicon Valley” Bangalore and partner – up with the Indian Manufacturing Show (IMS) to glitter even greater prospects as it unfolds at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC) from 11th to 13th September 2014. Already in its eighth year, EMMA Expo India stands out for offering Taiwan’s best solutions in electronics, machinery, molds and auto parts which this year is projecting a turnout exceeding 10,000 visitors. A 26 member delegations of top business institutions and companies from Taiwan will visit the EMMA Expo in Bangalore. The delegation is led by former minister of economic affairs Mr. Yen-Shiang Shih, currently the Chairman of Sinotech Engineering Consultants, Inc.
Before attending EMMA the delegation will come to Delhi for the “Taiwan- India Joint Business Councils Meeting” which is schedule from 7th Sept to 12th Sept 2014. The meetings over the years have a positive impact to build up economic cooperation between India and Taiwan. In 1995 contracts of cooperation was signed between Taipei World trade Center and seven states of North India. In 1996 another contact was signed between Taipei World trade Center and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in the same year CTBC the largest privately owned Taiwanese bank opened its first branch in New Delhi, India which is the first Taiwanese bank in India.
After almost two decades of these meetings a fruitful result of economic cooperation between India and Taiwan has been gained. The Foreign Direct Investment from Taiwan to India shows an accumulated investment of US$ 66.47 million till 2012. Companies like China Steel, The Export-Import bank of the R.O.C, CINDA Engineering & Construction Pvt. Ltd, CTBC Bank. Co., Ltd is some of the major contributors. China Steel also signed a contract with Gujrat Government to invest 60 billion Indian Rupees. More Taiwanese business institutions and companies are exploring for trade and investment opportunities in various sectors like Auto parts, ICT, Semi-Conductor, Machinery, Food Processing, Green Energy etc in India.
Since 1992, the meetings have been organized by the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), this year being the 14th edition. Mr. Chung-Yu Wang, Chairman, China Steel & CIECA, Mr. Robert Rueen-Fong Chu, Chairman, The Export-Import bank of the R.O.C, Mr. Tim Lin, Managing Director, CINDA Engineering & Construction Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Frank Shih, Chief Strategy Officer, CTBC Bank. Co., Ltd, Mr. Jen-Ni Yang, Director General of the Bureau of Foreign Trade are members of the delegation along with other delegates (END).
