Director-General of TECC, Mr. Charles Li was invited as Chief Guest to grace the Certificate Distribution Function of the Foreign Language Courses which was jointly organized by the Centre for International Affairs (CIA) and Department of English, Anna University at CEG campus on 11th December 2018. The dais was shared by Prof. K Sivakumar, Chairperson, Faculty of Science & Humanities, Prof. N Rajendran, Director, CIA, Prof. T Shrimathy Venkatalakshmi, HOD of English, and Dr. K. Kulothungan, Deputy Director, CIA.
Whilst addressing the gathering, Director General Charles Li had elucidated about Taiwan and the diverse opportunities spawn in Taiwan for the students. He emphasized the significance of learning foreign language chiefly in acquiring job opportunities, a person requisite to excel in minimum two foreign languages which would open new doors of wonderful opportunities for him. Furthermore, he expressed his opinion on incorporating Mandarin Chinese into the foreign language courses and its importance in today’s globalized world.
In his welcoming address, Professor N Rajendran announced the University’s intention of establishing the Taiwan Education Centre which will offer Mandarin Chinese courses to enrich students in the field of research journey and in their pursue of their higher education in Taiwan.
Prof. K Sivakumar and Prof. T Shrimathy Venkatalakshmi also congratulated the students who have completed language courses of Japanese, French and Germany, welcome the presence of Director-General Charles Li. Subsequently, Mr. Charles Li awarded the certificates to all the 133 students who have successfully completed their foreign language courses.
