First Time in Kerala history, Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala became the venue for Taiwan Film Festival. It showcased 5 best movies of Taiwan Film industry. During the inauguration ceremony the President of Kerala State Literary Academy Mr. Vaishakan (Famous Writer and culture activist) spoke about the Taiwanese Movies having the language and the culture vibrance associated in those movies are clearly a great importance for communication with the audience.
On September 27, for the opening ceremony Taiwan Film Festival was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests:
famous poet Mr. Anwar Ali and film critique Mr. I. Shanmuga Das. They discussed about the importance of Taiwanese movies in World Cinema and shared their personal experience with the Taiwanese artists and they talked very highly of them. They also mentioned about the freedom of speech in Taiwan and encouraged the locals to learn and interact more with Taiwan.
During this occasion Taike (Taiwan Kerala Association) President Mr.Ronnie Antony spoke about the five Taiwanese movies that featured the Taiwan Film Festival in Kerala. He thanked Taipei Economical and Culture Center in Chennai for its whole-hearted support and guidance.
Mr. Praveen, the treasurer of TAIKE delivered the vote of thanks to the all distinguished guests and the movie lovers. At the end of the opening ceremony the most uttered phrase from the audience were “Ilha Formosa” the beautiful Island.
The movie lovers and critics at Thrissur, Kerala were very excited to watch the Taiwanese movies. Pushing hands (Ang Li) got every good review from all the viewers and Cape No. 7 was the super hit.
