Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia held the 2017 Baltic Alumni Society conference in the Bauska Castle on July 7th with a great success. More than 30 members from the three Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia gathered in the historical site and spent a wonderful day with fruitful programs including speeches, movie-screening, castle-visiting, and a dinner party.
In his welcome speech Hon. Raitis Abelnieks, Mayor of the Bauska City, illustrated the grand development plan for Bauska which integrates three historical sites – Bauska Castle, Rundale Palace and Mezotne Palace for the Bauska tourist package. Then, Professor Claudio Rivera from Riga Business School gave an enlightening lecture on the theme “the Art of Leadership”, in which he encouraged participants to play a constructive role in their institutions. Followed with the movie screening of “The Assassin ”, a film by renowned Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien, from which participants could experience social turbulence in ancient Tang Dynasty. Director Maris Skanis proudly led participants to tour the gorgeous Castle, which was built in the 15th century, and entertained them with many insight stories. Lastly, the happy hour of dinner party provided golden opportunities for participants sharing their unforgettable memories in Taiwan.
The Taipei Mission invited more than a hundred ICDF Alumni from both public and private sectors of the Baltic States have attended various training programs and seminars sponsored by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund for the last two decades. The Baltic ICDF Alumni Society serves as a platform for members to promote their friendship as well as relationship between Taiwan and the Baltic countries.
