In appreciation of Latvian friends’ support to the Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia, Representative Wu, Rong-Chuan hosted a Christmas dinner banquet at his residence on December 20, 2017. Dozens of Latvian friends, including Hon. Ainars Latkovskis, Chairman of the Group for Interparliamentary Relations with Taiwan of the Latvian Saeima attended the warm and pleasant gathering.
In his remarks, Representative Wu recalled the fruitful bilateral exchanges and cooperation projects between Taiwan and the Baltic states in 2017, including the widely acclaimed Taiwan Film Festival in Riga as well as participation of Baltic food manufacturers to the Taiwan International Foods and Trade Fairs in Taipei. In particular, he praised the performance of the internationally renowned "Cloud Gate Dance Theatre” at the Grand Opening of the Baltic Contemporary Dance Festival in Lithuania.
Addressing on behalf of the guests, Hon. Latkovskis pointed out that “the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of Latvia share the common values of freedom and democracy.” In view of the mutually complementary status of ICT industry between Latvia and Taiwan, he urged the Mission to further promote trade and investment on the field.
Several parliamentarians praised the well-functioning National Health Insurance Program in Taiwan, which serves as the best model for Latvia. Mission staff also engaged in intensive interaction with guests on other topics in the joyful Party.
