The Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia, in cooperation with the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Taiwan, participated in the Estonia “TOUREST 2018” international tourism exhibition held at the Tallinn International Exhibition Center from February 9th to February 11th. Honorable Deniss Borodits, member of the Taiwan Support Group of the Estonian Parliament, and dozens of Estonian dignitaries in the fields of politics, business, academics as well as the media attended the opening reception, presided by Representative R. C. Wu of the Mission.
In his remarks, Representative Wu introduced Taiwan’s rich tourism resources and emphasized that Taiwan boasts diverse ecological environment, various cultures as well as friendly people and safe society as its main attraction. With more than 10 million tourists visited Taiwan in 2017, he encouraged friends from Estonia as well as other Baltic states to visit Taiwan so as to experience Taiwan’s beauty in person. Mr. Borodits also mentioned his unforgettable experience of Taiwan’s multicultural society, beautiful scenery, warm hospitality and tasty gourmet, making Taiwan a truly worthy destination for Estonian tourists.
“TOUREST", as the leading international tourism exhibition in North and Eastern Europe, attracted more than 30,000 visitors and participation from 500 travel agencies and business representatives from 30 countries from Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as Estonian municipalities this year. Since this is the first participation of Taiwan at the exhibition, many fairgoers expressed high interest in learning about Taiwan while Tallinna TV also interviewed Representative Wu at the Taiwan booth, generating considerable publicity for Taiwan during the event.
