On May 10, Deputy Director Herbert Hsu of Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia made a presentation at Riga Jugla secondary school (Rigas Juglas vidusskolas) to encourage graduating students to utilize Taiwan Scholarship programs and to pursue their advanced studies in Taiwan.
While giving an overview of Taiwan’s cultural abundance and social development, Mr. Hsu highlighted that Taiwan has been listed by several international institutes as one of the safest and friendliest countries in the world. The government of Taiwan provides competitive incentives for foreign students to apply Taiwan Scholarship programs and Huayu Enrichment Language Scholarship. He continued to introduce 30 and plus programs for international students to pursue Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees in the fields of business management, international relations, computer sciences, and others, which are conducted in English. Meanwhile, Mr. Lee, Chiang-hai, Deputy Counselor of Taipei Mission elaborated detailed guidelines and procedures of scholarship-application.
Established in 1967, Riga Jugla secondary school has more than 1,000 enrolled students. Director Aija Melle expressed appreciation for Taipei Mission’s efforts in promotion of scholarship programs, which provide more opportunities and options for her students. She also mentioned that a Taiwanese exchange student used to attend Riga Jugla secondary school through Rotary International exchange program.
With a view to continuously enhancing education exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and the Baltics, Taipei Mission has spared no efforts in promoting Taiwan Scholarship program in several secondary schools in the Baltics. The Mission also partook in the International Education Fair in Latvia earlier this year.
