Oct. 10, 2018 is our 107th Double Tenth National Day. On this special occasion, Taiwan—a modern nation of 23 million people, built on the principles of democracy, freedom, human
rights and the rule of law—is celebrating a reputation for having one of the world’s warmest and most welcoming societies. Taiwan has long been a favorite among tourists. Its vibrant cityscapes, night markets filled with enticing food, historic streets, network of national parks and captivating coastlines have won the hearts of people from around the globe who call
the country home.
Foreign residents voted Taiwan among the world’s top expatriate destinations, awarding it stellar ratings in the categories of quality of life, personal finances, standard and affordability of health care, and the friendliness of its people. The InterNations poll also ranked the nation as outstanding for personal happiness, well-being, safety and security, leisure options and transport infrastructure. In fact, many said they love living in Taiwan so much they want to stay forever.
This is down to the kindness and generosity of its people. It is also derived from the values and principles Taiwan holds dear. These span diversity and multiculturalism, equality, freedom of religion, universal health care and respect for human dignity.
Double Tenth National Day is the perfect occasion to celebrate the country’s growing global reputation. It is also a time for people from all over the world to fall in love with Taiwan.
