駐緬甸代表處11月17日上午送達中華民國(臺灣)外交部吳釗燮部長致緬甸聯邦共和國國務資政翁山蘇姬(Aung San Suu Kyi)信函，誠摯祝賀她所領導的「全國民主聯盟」(National League for Democracy)在11月8日舉行的大選中獲勝繼續執政，而順利舉行大選更是進一步展現緬甸致力民主化的努力與進步。吳釗燮部長期許兩國政府持續推動雙邊對話與合作，深化夥伴關係。
此次大選「全國民主聯盟」在國會上、下議院476 (161+315)個改選席次中，總共贏得396 (138+258)席，超過322席籌組政府門檻；在各、省邦議會亦獲得501個議員席次，堪稱大獲全勝。
駐緬甸代表處李朝成大使已於11月11日祝賀緬甸政府與人民在新冠疫情下，仍已順利舉辦大選的傲人成就，並重申中華民國(臺灣)政府將持續協助新一屆的民選政府共同推動和平進程，深化民主，增進雙邊經貿投資關係及其他各項互利合作。
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Myanmar conveyed a congratulatory letter by Foreign Minister of ROC (Taiwan) Joseph Wu to State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi in the morning of November 17. In the letter, Minister Wu expressed heartfelt congratulations on the victory of the NLD in the general elections of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar held on November 8 this year. The completion of 2020 General Elections signified Myanmar’s efforts and progress toward democracy. More dialogue and cooperation can be expected to deepen bilateral relationship in the near future.
Among the 476 seats for election in the Union Parliament (161 for Amyotha Hluttaw and 315 for Pyithu Hluttaw), NLD won 396 out of them, which has exceeded 322 the minimum threshold of executive power. Meanwhile, 501 seats were taken by NLD in the respective Region/State Parliaments, heralding a landslide victory.
On November 11, Charles Li, Ambassador of TECO in Myanmar congratulated the Union Government and people of Myanmar on their distinguished achievement in holding the general elections and consolidating democracy amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and reiterated the resolve of the government and people of ROC (Taiwan) to continue working closely with the Myanmar government and people in their pursuit of democracy, economic development, national reconciliation and everlasting peace.
