The prize giving ceremony of Malaysian Folklore Illustrated Books Writing Contest, a Malaysia-Taiwan cultural collaboration between the Han Culture Centre Malaysia (HAN) and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TECO) was held on 9 April 2021, at Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau.
TECO Representative, Anne Hung in the ceremony thanked teachers and students all over Malaysia for the great responses on this project, that they have received many interesting and impressive stories which portrays the diversity of Malaysia’s ethnics from the perspective of young students. She also praised the kids for being the inheritors of their own folklore stories.
Besides giving away cash prizes and books for the top ten winners, the organisers also announced additional 20 consolation prizes as encouragement to students who have submitted great theme about their own local legends and stories. Each consolation prize winner will receive a year subscription of reading material and certificate. The announcement was well supported by applause from the floor, and marked the end of the ceremony held in conjunction with Semarak Festival of Kuala Lumpur World Book Capital 2020 (KLWBC2020).
