Initiated by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, activated by Roar Media, consists of Malaysian music and media practitioners, “Taiwan ASEAN Music Action” is set to promote Taiwanese music in Southeast Asia.
“Taiwan ASEAN Music Action” will forge partnerships with various local media to produce Chinese and English contents that will spark the interest of music fans in learning about the richness and diversity of Taiwanese music. In addition, social media and website will be utilized and developed to engage with notable music platforms from Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand. Closer ties will be forged between Taiwanese and South East Asia music lovers to further enhance the “New Southbound Music Policy”!
Roar Media is co-founded by Mak Wai Hoo, a seasoned veteran in the local music scene, and Tan Wei Tee, an experienced media person and former producer of 8TV. Under the initiatives of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, Roar Media will perform an active role in promoting Taiwanese music in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Besides gathering news on Taiwan and Southeast Asia music events and industry updates, it plans to hold and co-produce online forums and music programs with different platforms. Roar Media trusts that with its well-established media network and music connection in the region, coupled with fans support accumulated from past events, will effectively bring the relevant parties together. The project strives to deepen the links between Taiwanese and Southeast Asia music, strengthen the influence of Taiwanese culture in the region. “Taiwan ASEAN Music Action” seeks to become the vital platform for promoting the “New Southbound Music Policy.”
The Golden Melody Awards, Taiwan's equivalent of the Grammy Awards, organized by The Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development, is widely regarded as the most momentous event of the Mandopop music scene. Held annually, the event often received a huge amount of media coverage. The Bureau also organized the ‘Taiwanese and Malaysian Musician Exchange’ in 2018 and 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, the event was well-received by attending musicians and delegates.
On that basis, “Taiwan ASEAN Music Action” will portray a primary role in bringing the best of Taiwanese music to the region, increasing its awareness and exposure.
