Ambassador Liao visits the city of Malmö to strengthen the relationships with local government

Ambassador Liao visited Malmö on February 7, in order to strengthen exchanges with the local government. He paid a visit to Carina Nilsson, the newly elected Mayor of Malmö, and then invited Taiwanese nationals living in Malmö to a New Year’s banquet.
Ambassador Liao went to the historical Malmö Town Hall, built in the 16th century, and met with the Mayor Carina Nilsson and the policy adviser Nashab Farhikhtah. The Mayor introduced the history of the city and gave Ambassador Liao a guided tour in the old town hall. After the tour, Ambassador Liao and the Mayor discussed how to further develop the cooperation and relations between Malmö City and the Republic of China (Taiwan) in various fields and on different levels. Ambassador Liao encouraged the Mayor to visit Taiwan to find out the potentials for Malmö city.
Ambassador Liao also took the opportunity to invite overseas Taiwanese living in Malmö to have the annual Lunar Year lunch. During the lunch, Ambassador Liao presented an Outstanding Contribution Award to Mr Ji Lei, coordinator Overseas Community Affairs Council, to recognize his significant contribution to enhancing relations between Taipei Mission in Sweden and the overseas Taiwanese community in Sweden.
