Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang graced the United Chinese Library’s memorial service to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the death of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founding father of the Republic of China on 12 March 2019.
Representative Liang led the memorial service, which was attended by over 60 persons, including personalities from the Singapore Sian Chay Medical Institution, the Singapore Raoping Association, the Alumni of Taiwan
Universities and Colleges in Singapore, the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (Wan Qing Yuan), and independent Singapore Chinese historian Kua Bak Lim. In a solemn ceremony, they stood in front of a bust of Dr. Sun to pay their respects, and joined as one in the singing songs in memory of Dr. Sun.
During his address at the event, Representative Liang reminisced Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who founded the United Chinese Library, and the many sacrifices Dr. Sun faced as he led the Chinese Revolution and ushered in the first republic in Asia. The memorial service at the United Chinese Library serves as a yearly ritual to honor Dr. Sun, to remember the contributions of those who served in the revolutionary cause, and to inspire future generations to emulate Dr. Sun and his peers.
