Taiwan’s top athletes grab gold and silver at Asian Games

On 28 August, Taiwan’s Tzu-Ying Tai claimed the nation’s first-ever badminton gold at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia following her victory in the women’s singles tournament. In her final match, the athlete started off by scoring five consecutive points and displayed her trademark lightning reflexes and surgical accuracy throughout the competition. Earlier that day, fellow Taiwan badminton star Tien-Chen Chou won a silver medal in the men’s singles competition.
As of 28 August, Taiwan has secured 13 golds, 14 silvers and 20 bronzes at this year’s Asian Games, placing the country sixth in the overall rankings. Aside from badminton, Taiwan’s athletes have also finished top in archery, artistic gymnastics, canoeing, karate, shooting, taekwondo and weightlifting.
