From 17-21 June, the TRO helped to promote educational opportunities in Taiwan during the Taiwan Studies Summer School at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). During the event, TRO Education Division Director Dr Nicole Yen-Yi Lee led colleagues in running a ‘Study in Taiwan’ desk, which provided information about opportunities to study at Taiwanese universities as well as Taiwanese government scholarship programmes. In addition to promoting the Summer School amongst scholarship students and alumni, members of the Education Division also handed out brochures and answered questions from interested visitors at the event.
This year’s SOAS Taiwan Studies Summer School convened under the theme of documenting Taiwanese society and politics, and featured talks from prominent academics and cultural practitioners. The programme has become one of the most popular events in the European Taiwan Studies calendar. SOAS Taiwan Studies Summer School events are free to attend and very popular among students of East Asian Studies in the UK.
