On Saturday, 9 November, the TRO hosted an annual meeting for committee members of Taiwanese student societies across UK and Irish universities. The gathering, which took place at King’s College London (KCL), was organised by TRO Education Division Director Dr Nicole Yen-Yi Lee and attended by 82 students in total, representing 45 student societies in Britain and the Republic of Ireland. During the event, Taiwanese student societies also elected new leaders. The number of Taiwanese students in the UK rose to over 12,000 in 2019, demonstrating growing bilateral links in the field of education. With 54 Taiwan student societies having been established in the UK and Ireland, Taiwanese students are instrumental in helping to forge meaningful links between the UK and Taiwan.
In his remarks, Representative Lin warmly welcomed the group of students and provided guidance on personal safety issues as well as urging attendees to promote study in Taiwan at their respective institutions.
