On December 2, 2020, Taiwan Representative Bi-khim Hsiao and Managing Director Ingrid Larson of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on International Education Cooperation in a virtual ceremony. They were joined by Deputy Secretary of Education Mitchell Zais and Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Marie Royce.
In her remarks, Representative Hsiao addressed the close education ties between Taiwan and the U.S., noting the continued increases in bilateral student exchanges in recent years. She emphasized that American students increasingly see Taiwan as an attractive destination to study abroad, as they are able to engage in world-class Chinese-language training, while enjoying academic freedoms, an open society, and a diverse culture.
The MOU aims at strengthening the cooperation and collaboration between Taiwan and the U.S. on international education, particularly in the area of language education. Promoting Taiwanese culture interaction with American society has always been an important mission of TECRO. We look forward to working together and furthering our ties in the future.
