On Monday, September 19, the Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce of Georgia (TJCCGA) hosted the “Taste of Taiwan” banquet at the Atlanta History Center. Distinguished guests included Governor Nathan Deal, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, Congressman Tom Price, DeKalb County State Court Judge Alvin T. Wang and local Taiwanese community leaders.
In his remarks, Director General Tai thanked TJCCGA for organizing the event, and gave details about Georgia-Taiwan trade relations. He said that US-Taiwan trade reached $67.4 billion last year, with Taiwan becoming the United States' 9th largest trading partner. DG Tai noted that last May, Taiwan inaugurated its first woman president, Tsai Ing-wen, and that under her leadership, Taiwan will continue its role as a responsible global citizen.
Governor Deal presented the 2016 TJCCGA Cultural Ambassador awards as part of the celebration. The recipients were Dr. James A. Walter, President and CEO of Walters Management Company; and Dr. Suling Wang, Chairman and CEO of Color Imaging, Inc.
DG Tai expressed gratitude to the visiting Taiwanese chefs for sharing their culinary expertise. He thanked the more the 450 guests for their attendance.
