Monte Jade Science & Technology Association, Southeastern U.S. (MJSTASE) hosted its 25th Annual Conference on November 11 in Atlanta. The 2017 MJSTASE annual conference theme was “Big Data and Life.” Speakers and topics including Dr. Yimin Yang on “FinTech and its Applications”, Mr. Bai Tian on “GIS Technology Applications”, Mr. Phillip Wu on “Data Applications – from UPS Marketing Perspective”, and Mr. Bruce Chen on “Big Data and Business Connectivity”. The MJSTASE Annual Conference also held a Young Achiever Award Ceremony and talent show.
Director General and Mrs. Vincent Liu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta also attended the MJSTASE Annual Conference and dinner banquet as special guests and sponsor.
In his remarks, DG Liu extended his wishes for the success of the conference. He also shared some information from Taiwan’s government on “Big Data and Life.” According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, in recent years, 72.7% of R&D budgets and grants are concentrated on Information Communication Technology. The 2016 report, “Taiwan Digital Nation and Innovative Economic Development Plan (2017-2015) and Forward-Looking Infrastructure Development Program,” focused on the application of digitalization technologies in major industries. A Taiwanese survey by the Institute for Information Industry showed that the market for Big Data grew nearly 50% from 2013 to 2016. DG also emphasized that Taiwan is synthesizing Big Data and medical ICT technologies to develop a world renowned industry of medical wearable accessories.
