The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta and the North American Taiwanese Medical Association (NATMA), Atlanta Chapter held an annual banquet at Northlake Thai Cuisine on May 4 to support Taiwan’s effort to participate in the WHO. Former US Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Tom Price and Mrs. Betty Price, Georgia State Representative, were the guests of honor for the program.
Director General Vincent Liu of TECO Atlanta and Dr. Li-Kun Tu, Chairman of NATMA, hosted the event. DG Liu praised Secretary Price’s compassion on global health and thanked him for his support for Taiwan to attend the WHA in 2017. However, Dr. Price was disappointed that Taiwan didn’t get the invitation for the global health event.
In his remarks, Dr. Price articulated that international organizations should include Taiwan in the global health system. He also said that health care is a universal principle for everyone.
