Director General Vincent Liu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta attended the Global Federation of Chinese Business Woman (GFCB) - Atlanta Chapter first anniversary celebration on August 25.
DG Liu first commended Jackie Chen, President of GFCP Atlanta Chapter, for her accomplishment of many good deeds in Atlanta, including coaching woman entrepreneurs, hosting the 2017 Taste of Taiwan Galas with the Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, organizing the national flag fashion show for the National Day Reception in 2017, and volunteering in the 2018 Atlanta Lunar New Year Festival. He also praised Vice President Ting Chiu, who led a delegation to Taiwan in May to visit the Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
In his remarks, DG Liu briefed to the audience about President Tsai Ing-wen’s recent visit to the United States, Paraguay and Belize. He also emphasized the relationship between the US and Taiwan, including important legislation such as the Taiwan Travel Act, expansion of the Global Entry program to include Taiwan, and the American Institute in Taiwan’s opening ceremony when AIT moved to its new office in Taipei.
DG Liu also talked about President Tsai’s statement on Taiwanese-Americans’ roles, expressing that Taiwan’s survival and development depend on the influence and support of Taiwanese-Americans. He urged all the participants play a role in strengthening the relations between the United States and Taiwan.
