The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council will co-host the 2017 Dragon Boats Races and Taiwan Day Festival on September 9 from 9am-4pm along the Pawtucket River in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. We are pleased to welcome you as we celebrate the Dragon Boat Races, Kites Flying, Dumpling and Watermelon Eating Contests, traditional Chinese arts and crafts, great food, and exciting performances.
There are some great prizes to be won. The winning team of the Dragon boat race will receive $5,000. China Airlines donated one round-trip airline ticket (NYC/LA/SF-TPE) for the winner of the Breast Cancer Awareness Race. The winner of the Dumpling-eating Contest will receive one round-trip airline ticket to Taiwan provided by Eva Air (NYC-TPE).
In addition to the new kite flying of the ROC (Taiwan) and US national flags, new and exciting Taiwanese traditional folk arts performances, arts and crafts demonstrations, a watermelon-eating contest, and tasty foods prepared by local area restaurants will be sure to provide a day of fun.
The Rhode Island Dragon Boat Races and Taiwan Day Festival is now in its 18th year. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage with friends from across the community.
