Director-General Douglas Y.T. Hsu Attends the International Economic Ambassadors Initiative Press Conference

Director-General Douglas Y.T. Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston (TECO-Boston) was joined by Lt. Governor Dan McKee to launch the International Economic Ambassadors Initiative on November 19, 2019. Nearly 100 people attended the event, including representatives from consulates general, chambers of commerce, and other organizations in New England.
Lt. Governor Dan McKee noted that only by collaborating with diverse groups can Rhode Island attract investment and create economic opportunities for the state. The lieutenant governor highlighted the Taiwan government and private enterprise dragon boat donation to showcase Rhode Island’s successful relationship with Taiwan. He also presented citations to Louis Yip and Sunny Ng of the Tai-O Group as the first two International Economic Ambassadors.
Director-General Hsu spoke on Taiwan-Rhode Island relations. He expressed support for Lt. Governor Dan McKee’s focus to engage Rhode Islanders who have international ties to promote opportunities for Rhode Island, especially with Taiwan. He also noted that Taiwan and Rhode Island maintain a close relationship and that Taiwan will continue a strong partnership with the Rhode Island state government in the future.
