On September 18, Director-General Jonathan Sun of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston (TECO-Boston) joined President Sharon Hong of the Brookline Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce (BTCC) to visit Pepperell Senior Center for the donation of 2,500 surgical masks. The masks will be distributed to senior citizens in Pepperell.
Elected officials present included Massachusetts State Representative Sheila C. Harrington, Chairman and Representative Donald Wong of the Asian American Caucus, and Pepperell Town Administrator Andrew MacLean. The Pepperell Community Media, a local publication, also covered the event. The BTCC’s gift of masks for senior citizens was deeply appreciated by the attendees.
In an interview, Director-General Sun explained in detail Taiwan’s successful experience in containing the pandemic. He also noted that Taiwan and the BTCC have given more than 400,000 masks to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts demonstrating Taiwan can help and is helping.
