The great Chicago Taiwanese community gathered in William Fremd High School on October 22nd , 2017 to celebrate the 106th National Day of Republic of China (Taiwan) by holding ’The R.O.C.(Taiwan)106th Double Ten’s Sports Games”. This was one of the four celebratory series for the National Day in Chicago.
There were more than five hundred players participating in five sports competitions including basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis and table tennis. The players were from Midwestern Taiwanese Associations, Chinese Schools, Taiwanese Students Associations and some other organizations of the states of Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois.
Director General Calvin Ho attended the Sports Games’ Opening Ceremony with TECO in Chicago’s officers. He noted that this sports event was the last National Day series celebratory event and was special and significant because it encouraged health through sports competitions. He urged all players to do their best and tossed balls to start the games.
After a whole day competition Director General Calvin Ho and TECO in Chicago’s officers awarded medals to winners at the Closing Ceremony and expressed appreciation for their participation and sportsmanship.
