As of August 24, 2020, Taiwan’s Ministry of Education has opened “special entry permit” applications for international students expecting to pursue degree studies in Taiwan, including: students expecting to graduate in 2020, current students, incoming students admitted for the 2020/2021 academic year, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Taiwan Scholarship recipients (4 year degree study plus one year of Mandarin training).
International students not expecting to pursue degree studies, such as those who expected to study in short-term, exchange, or Mandarin learning programs, and students not on the lists approved by the Ministry of Education are not eligible to apply for the "special entry permit" to enter Taiwan.
International students coming from overseas must complete a 14-day home quarantine upon arrival in Taiwan. Students must follow relevant epidemic prevention measures in accordance with the regulations of Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center. Schools will help students to find an epidemic prevention hotel or central quarantine site to complete the mandatory quarantine requirement. During summer vacation, arrangements may also be made for students to stay in a quarantine dormitory on or off campus (as approved by the local health administration). In accordance with epidemic prevention measures, schools will keep in contact with students during quarantine.
