The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York is pleased to announce its partnership with the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) in presenting four Taiwanese films during the festival’s run from June 28 – July 14. Themed “Still Too Young to Die,” this year’s festival features films from Taiwan described by festival officials as “resolutely pop, accessible, and unapologetically fun.”
The four films are drama Han Dan (dir. Huang Chao-liang, 2019), action film The Scoundrels (dir. Hung Tzu-Hsuan, 2018), comedy It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Show (dir. Hsieh Nien Tsu, 2019) and romantic comedy Someone in the Clouds (dir. Mitch Lin & Gary Tseng, 2019).
The New York Asian Film Festival is co-presented by the New York Asian Film Foundation and Film at Lincoln Center.

Han Dan – June 30, 3:30pm (North American Premiere)

Han Dan, a tale of crime and punishment centers on an explosive local tradition, is up for the NYAFF main competition’s Uncaged Award for Best Feature Film. Han Dan received most nominations at this year's Taipei Film Festival, including Best Picture.
The Scoundrels – July 1, 6pm (North American Premiere)

The Scoundrels, a film noir-inspired gangster film, was described by Kevin Ma of the Far East Film Festival as “the revival that Taiwanese action cinema deserves.” This gritty story was shown in the 23rd Busan International Film Festival’s A Window on Asian Cinema series.
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Show – July 4, 12:30pm (North American Premiere)
Venue: Film at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street)
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Show is the adaptation of a famous play about a TV station on the verge of collapse, whose last remaining employees attempt to save it using their passion and creativity. This madcap comedy highlights the wonderful world of Taiwan’s television culture.
Someone in the Clouds – July 13, 5:30pm (International Premiere)
Venue: SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd Street)
Irreverent rom-com Someone in the Clouds is adapted from a best-selling book and stars award-winning actors Lin Bo-hong and Jian Man-shu.
