The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York is pleased to announce that Taiwan will be one of the two theme nations alongside Sweden to be featured in the Pavilions Without Walls program at the Performa 19 Biennial, which takes place this November throughout New York City.
Five Taiwanese artists—Chou Yu-cheng, Su Hui-yu, Yu Cheng-ta, Huang Po-chih, and Shu Lea Cheang—will present site-specific commissioned works at locations across Manhattan on a range of global issues, such as labor, immigrants, trade, gender equality, and the influence of social media.
The Taiwanese Pavilion, co-curated by Performa, Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) and Taipei Fine Arts Museum, is supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture and the Taipei Cultural Center in New York.
