The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York is pleased to announce that Taiwanese director Chung Mong-hong’s debut documentary feature, Doctor, will be streaming at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)’s virtual cinema from March 11 through March 17, 2021.
MoMA will be presenting the film series “20 Years of Doc Fortnight” in celebration of the 20th edition of its annual international nonfiction film festival. Featured in this selection will be 10 films from around the world selected from past editions of Doc Fortnight, including Chung’s Doctor, which was originally selected in 2008.
Doctor revolves around a Taiwanese American oncologist, Dr. Wen, who previously lost his son Felix to suicide. The film follows his journey of healing through grief while treating a 12-year-old Peruvian boy suffering from cancer. The film won the Best Documentary Award at the 2006 Taipei Film Festival, as well as the Merit Prize from the Asian Vision Competition and the PTS Audience Choice Award at the 2006 Taiwan International Documentary Festival.
