BLESSED IMELDA’ SCHOOL CELEBRATES 100TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Blessed Imelda’s School, the oldest Catholic school and the first Catholic girls’ school in Taiwan, established in 1916 under Japanese rule by the Dominican Fathers and still under the direction of the archbishopric, celebrated its 100th Anniversary in December 2016.
Both faculty and students attended the anniversary commemoration event. Vice President Chen Chien-jen was among those present. In his speech, he praised the combination of education and Catholic faith which emphasizes not only academic excellence, but also moral development. He also extolled the value of the school’s education mission, which is to develop the human and religious values that make us brothers and sisters, as well as the institution’s contributions to charity and social services. He then concluded by expressing his hope that students will keep the school’s traditions and values in their future adult life.
