Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Ms. Grace Hseih's early life was influenced by her creative mother. At the age of 18, she went to study in the United Kingdom, where she received a National Diploma of Arts and Design from Cambridge Regional College, a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from the University of Central England in Birmingham and finally a Master of Arts in Textiles Design from the Central St. Martin School of Art and Design at the University of the Arts London.
Upon completion of her studies, Ms. Hseih returned to Taipei and has since been working as a sort-after designer and educator.
With numerous successful exhibitions in Taiwan, Canada, Japan and China under her belt, this is the first time Ms. Hseih will exhibit her textile designs in this manner on African soil. However, that is not to say her textiles have not managed to find their way to the African continent. Ms. Hseih has for years worked closely for many years with one of South Africa's most celebrated and acclaimed fashions designers, Mr. Clive Rundle, and her textile designs have given birth to many of his wonderful creations.
Ms. Hseih will be exhibiting her designs at the Brooklyn Theatre in Pretoria from the 14th of July to the 20th of August 2018. Please see the poster below for details.
