TECO in Australia is pleased to confirm the 5 recipients who will be receiving Taiwan-University of Sydney Scholarship (TW-USyd) for the 2020 round of application. For the first year of the program, 5 outstanding recipients have been selected among 12 applicants after displaying remarkable academic achievement and potential. The recipients will receive over $35,000 per year for up to 4 years for their study costs, and participate in PhD courses with full tuition support.
Co-funded by the Ministry of Education and the University of Sydney, the vision for the TW-USyd scholarship program is to help motivated Taiwanese youth through respective postgraduate educations to fulfil their potential and reinvest their experience in ways that positively benefit others.
The recipients for 2020 bring a diversity of skills and backgrounds from the following fields: Engineering and IT, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic, Transport and Logistics Studies. According to the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Engineering, in 2019 it has been ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide, rising to 86th in the world for Engineering and Technology, a jump of 7 places. The Faculty was also ranked 86th for computer science, which is an improvement of up to 15 places.
Due to the continuing cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the World prestigious universities in setting up scholarship programs, since its launch we have seen the number of students coming to Australia to pursue a doctoral degree has increased from 2 in 2019 to 9 in 2020.
Along with the University of Sydney, the Australian National University is one of the two universities that are in partnership with the Ministry of Education to offer generous sponsorship for 10 places to study doctorates in Australia each year.
