Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Joseph Wu gave exclusive interviews to the Australian Financial Reviews, the Australian and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation this year.
In these interviews, Minister Wu pointed out that ties between Taiwan and Australia have grown closer. He took the opportunities to thank Australia for supporting Taiwan's inclusion in the World Health Assembly (WHA). During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Taiwan has provided support to its diplomatic allies, and Minister Wu called it a unique “Taiwan Model” in helping, “We will continue to participate in international activities that will bring benefit to everyone else.” Minister Wu said.
Minister Wu also proposed Australia sign an economic co-operation agreement (ECA) with Taiwan to enhance bilateral trade, and hoped Australia look at Taiwan’s potential contribution to the CPTPP in a more serious manner and voice support for Taiwan’s participation. “It’s going to benefit Taiwan for sure and I’m sure it’s going to benefit the CPTPP member countries as well,” he added.
